What is Life Coaching?

Life coaching is an extremely successful form of talking therapy, which can have profound effects on people’s lives.

Life coaching is a relationship between a trained life coach and a client, that is oriented toward achieving the desired outcomes of the client. If there is a lack of direction and focus in your personal life or workplace, or if you are feeling stuck, life coaching can help you tackle problems, re-think, and re-evaluate where you are heading.

Unlike other kinds of therapy that may focus on your past, life coaching focuses on, and looks to improve, your present and future. 

If you wanted to improve your fitness, you might hire a personal trainer or coach. In a similar way, life coaching is for anyone who wants to make positive changes and improve their 'performance' in life or at work. Top athletes hire performance coaches to help them improve and hone their abilities. Likewise, even those who are already skilled and successful can benefit from life coaching. 

The central aim of life coaching is to help you clarify what you want in your life at this time and to then help you move step-by-step in your desired direction. 

To coach means to co-achieve. Life coaches are more than counsellors or consultants; they empower others by supporting and working alongside people to help them set and achieve their goals, both in their personal and professional lives. A life coach supports you by helping you find direction and purpose, by holding you accountable, and by helping you with motivation. If the latter is a struggle — good news — both motivated and unmotivated people can benefit from a life coach's efficiency, training, and expert guidance.

Every day we make choices to do or not do many things. How does Life Coaching work?

Primarily, you must have something you want to change, in your life or in yourself.

Our Life Coach can help you work on this by changing how you see yourself and the rest of the world, and by helping you develop a more positive thought process. By changing your thought processes and combining this with a desire to challenge yourself and change, this will allow you to ultimately achieve your goals.

A central tenet of Life Coaching is that everyone already holds all the answers and solutions to every question or challenge they may have. The work of the our Coach is to help you connect to your own inner resources, get clear about what you really want and develop goals. These goals can then be broken down into smaller achievable steps and worked on with the support of our Coach throughout and between the sessions.

The first step is a one hour consultation. This is where you and our life coach meet and discuss your issues and goals. They will then put together a coaching programme to suit your needs. Programmes start at a minimum of 6 sessions and are usually scheduled on a weekly basis. Our coach works with an extensive range of issues, and sessions can be face-to-face or over Skype. That means that wherever you are, you can work together.
